Recovery

I had hoped to put out a new blog post every Friday.  I was so excited!

But then, BAM! I did not feel well.  Some kind of flu.  Not bad enough to go to the doctor, but I didn't want to spread it around, so I kept to myself for about 2 weeks.  I didn't feel up to much, except noodling around with some stitching, making grilled ham and cheese sandwiches when I felt better, dipping those sandwiches in tomato soup, etc.

The blog was the last thing on my mind, I'm sorry to say.  But I'm trying to make a comeback!  I almost felt like blogging yesterday (Friday), but somehow, I just couldn't get going.  I rested a lot.

But, today (Saturday), I feel much better.  I'm hoping that I can continue the blog next Friday.

One fortuitous thing that did happen was that JUST  before I got sick I finished my Snoopy Quilt.  Oh, what a comfort that was to snuggle with when I wasn't feeling well.  It's not too big, just a little shorter than I am.  The plain cotton Snoopy fabric is on one side, and some flannelette rectangles on the other, stitching in the ditch.  White quilt binding along the edges. I wanted to use cotton batting, but Wally World was all out of the good stuff when I was almost finished, so I just went with low loft poly batting . It turned out just fine.  I washed it to get out the fabric marker marks I had made for some of the sewing, and it washed up beautifully.  Very soft, and the fabric softener was JUST RIGHT.  Comfy!

Just before I got sick, I also made one of my infrequent trips to my storage unit and found one of my old projects, still packed up in its little zippy bag.  It was one of those little baby bonnets you make out of a lace-edged hanky, that you can take the stitching out later and use as a bridal hanky.  Very cute.  Since I had a couple of those men's hankies from Wally World on hand, I decided to make some more.  So I cut off the edges and make a small hem and mitered the corners as best I could.  I sewed some lace on, embroidered a bit in the corners, and did the stitches to put it together.  I don't have the ribbon as yet.   I'll take some pics when I get the ribbon in.

What else?  I ordered some floss from DMC.  I'll make a post about that another time, I think.  I've got so many different kinds!  The Coloris line is divine, darling!  I also ordered, for the first time ever, the matte cotton.  I'm not sure I like it.  It's very thick.  I was thinking it would be like floche, which I'm still looking for.  Oh well, you don't know until you try, right?

I've also been playing around with designs for scapulars.  I am still planning either a blog post or possibly just making a completely separate section on the website for how to make scapulars.  I've figured out quite a bit while just fiddling around with stitches.  I've got some ideas about the wool felt as well.  A scapular is a lovely little project to work on, as simple or as complicated as you wish.

Well, I think that probably catches us up pretty well.  I've got some projects from last year to finish up, the sewing kits, a linen skirt, I still have to finish my Ugly Christmas Quilt!  I did finish quite a bit, though.

I'll try and have something for Friday, now that I'm feeling better.

TTFN!
